Bulacan police officer returns missing P38K to owner

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A Bulacan police officer  returned a black pouch with PHP38,165  he found at the Marikina Shoe Expo in River Bank, Marikina last Sunday, Bulacan Police Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna reported on Thursday.

Bersaluna identified the honest police officer as Chief Inspector Moner M. Orang, presently assigned as chief of the Provincial Investigation and Management Branch of Bulacan Police Provincial Office.

He said that Orang, together with his family, was supposed to buy shoes when he found the pouch containing cash and a bank passbook under the account name of Sofronia Lumagbas Walker.

Bersaluna said that Orang immediately went to the nearest police station and reported his find.

"After an hour, Orang said he received a call from the police station that Walker reported about her missing pouch. He met Walker and handed her back the black pouch with the money and the bank passbook," Bersaluna said.

He said that Orang's honesty will be given recognition.

Orang, a bemedaled police officer, had been previously assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office, Northern Police District and  Eastern Police District and is a member of Class 2001 of the Philippine National Police Academy.

Prior to his assignment in Bulacan, he became the deputy chief of police for operations at the Caloocan City Police Station. (PNA)
