No Filipino casualties in Turkey train crash: DFA

MANILA -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday night reported that no Filipino was among the casualties in the deadly high-speed train crash in Ankara, Turkey.

Ambassador to Turkey Ma. Rowena Sanchez said no Filipinos were among the dead or injured in the crash that killed nine people.

In a statement, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato extended the agency's condolences to the families of those who perished from the crash Thursday morning.

According to reports, at least 46 were also wounded, with three still in serious condition when the high-speed train collided with another passenger locomotive en route to the central province of Konya.

Search and rescue efforts are ongoing, and technical investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash. (PNA)
