MANILA -- The Senate has suspended work on January 9 for the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene.

The work suspension was approved by Senate President Vicente Sotto III and contained in an advisory signed by lawyer Myra Marie Villarica, the head of the Office of the Senate Secretary.

“In anticipation of the traffic congestion and difficulty in commuting to and from the Senate due to the yearly Traslacion of the Black Nazarene on January 9, 2019, please be advised that, as approved by the Senate President, Senate officials and employees need not report for work,” the advisory read.

It added that meetings, committee hearings and other activities scheduled on Wednesday may proceed based on the discretion of concerned lawmakers and offices.

“However, additional compensation may not be claimed for work rendered in the exigency of the service on this day,” the advisory said. (PNA)
