CARMONA -- San Beda reclaimed the National Collegiate Athletic Association men's football title after beating Arellano, 1-0, in the championship game at the PFF National Training Centre on Tuesday.

Jessie Semblante's lone goal was the difference as the Red Lions scored their 11th championship in 13 years, taking back the title they lost last year after missing the final.

Semblante's game-winner came in the 87th minute, drilling a free kick from the right side into the goalmouth to the delight of the San Beda fans and to the shock of the Arellano fans.

Semblante was later named the Most Valuable Player of the season.

The Red Lions' title victory made up for their high school counterparts' defeat in the juniors’ football final.

Arellano scored a 1-0 win of its own against San Beda earlier Tuesday through a Jimmen Catap goal midway through the first half.

Catap was named the MVP for the juniors’ division after leading the Braves to their first NCAA championship ever. (PNA)
