LAOAG CITY -- Over 500 young Ilokanos are expected to join the funniest fun run activity in the province, dubbed as “Taray ni Ayat” (Run for love), courtesy of the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO) and the Sirib Ilokano Kabataan Association here.

Patrick John Ratuita, INYDO staff and coordinator, said the activity set on February 16 is an annual event to promote community involvement and participation among the youth in the province.

He explained the “Taray ni Ayat” is not only meant for couples but also for friends, siblings, classmates, village mates, or families who are supportive of youth events.

The activity will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena leading to Ablan Avenua then to Rizal Street, all the way to the Laoag bypass road and then back to Centennial Arena.

Registration fee for couples is pegged at PHP450 while singles at PHP250.

“The fun run is open to everyone, regardless if you are single or in a relationship, and you can avail of the promo with your friends or even your enemies too,” he added.

Since 2016, the youth-organized fun run activity has become an instant bond among youth members and their family members.

It aims to raise more funds to finance youth development programs in the province.

Proceeds from the activity will be used to finance various seminars and activities geared towards giving more opportunities for young Ilocanos to participate in governance and community development. (PNA)
