TNT pips playoff-bound ROS to bolster own QF bid

MANILA — The TNT KaTropa snapped thr Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters' hot run with a 100-92 win in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City on Sunday night.

The KaTropa went for 33 points in the second quarter to open a 56-39 at halftime before holding off the Elasto Painters twice in the second half.

Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario each chipped in 20 points off the bench in their return to TNT after helping Gilas make the FIBA World Cup.

Castro actually came close to a triple-double as he too had 10 assists and seven rebounds as his team moved up to 4-3, tying San Miguel for fourth place in the team standings.

James Yap had 18 points, two rebounds, and one steal off the bench for the quarterfinal-bound ROS, which fell to second place at 7-2. (PNA)
