MANILA — As anticipated, a bunch of former players from San Beda will make up the core of Mendiola for the upcoming Philippine Premier League (PPL) season.

Former U23 Azkal Franco De La Torre makes his return to the professional football scene as he headlines the Red Lion alumni who will beef up the club, which is making a return to top flight football for the first time in nine years.

Dingdong Fornea, Aljo Zabala, JR Sandoval, Aaron Altiche, Shaun Soberano, and Ash Flores will join Mendiola as well.

The club also signed two players from San Beda's NCAA rival Arellano, Papuh Corsame and Jumbel Guinabang.

Further bolstering Mendiola are Kennedy Uzoka and Allen Angeles, Altiche's former teammates at JPV Marikina.

Even Marikina's former head coach, Dan Padernal, was tapped to steer Mendiola for the PPL season, which will begin on March 30. (PNA)
