2 former boxing champs square off in Bukidnon

DAVAO CITY -- Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Pacific mini-flyweight world champion Jerry Tomogdan will trade punches with Dexter Alimento, also former World Boxing Council (WBC) titlist, in Kaamulan Boxing Showdown on April 5 in Bukidnon.

Tomogdan, a 25-year-old native of Valencia City, is coming off a sixth-round technical knockout victory against Dondon Navarez on Dec. 9 last year.

It was Tomogdan’s 14th win via stoppage and 26th victory in 36 fights.

On the other hand, Alimento lost all his three previous fights against foreign opponents.

The 22-year-old Iligan City campaigner bowed to Jing Xiang of China via unanimous decision in January 2018 before absorbing two knockout defeats to undefeated Japanese Junto Nakatani in June and Panya Pradabsri of Thailand in November last year.

Alimento has 13 wins including 8 knockouts, and five losses.

The Kaamulan Boxing Showdown presented by the Global Boxing Organization and the province of Bukidnon also features the GBO Asia Pacific Youth minimumweight championship clash between undefeated Robert “Super Inggo” Paradero of Doc Toto Sajulga Stable based in Malaybalay and Jonathan“Pretty Boy” Almacen of Brico Santig Stable of Baguio City.

Sporting an impressive 22-0 with 11 knockouts, Paradero from Valencia City retained the WBO Asia Pacific Youth minimumweight title by a unanimous decision over Royder Lloyd Borbon on April 3, 2018 in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

He won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth title via unanimous decision over Rone Tanallon in Cagayan de Oro City on Oct. 28, 2016. (PNA)
