MANILA -- The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) lifted its ban on liquid items which was imposed as part of its heightened security measures.

In an advisory, the LRT-1 management announced that passengers may now bring bottled water and drinks as well as other liquid items effective Tuesday.

The move comes after the LRT Line 2 (LRT-2) and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) lifted their respective liquid bans last February 20.

The ban on liquid items was imposed on the LRT and MRT railway systems after the Philippine National Police placed Metro Manila on heightened alert status following the twin bombings that hit a church in Jolo, Sulu in January. (PNA)
