BACOLOD CITY -- Various police stations in Negros Occidental held condemnation rallies to denounce the atrocities of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in their respective areas in the past two days.

Among the participants were police personnel in municipalities of Murcia, Moises Padilla, Isabela, San Enrique, Binalbagan, Candoni, Toboso and cities of Kabankalan, Himamaylan, Bago, Cadiz, Talisay and Victorias as shown in the photos posted on the Facebook page of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) Police Community Relations.

Maj. Edison Garcia, public information officer of NOCPPO, in an interview on Tuesday evening, said the activities were joined by representatives from anti-communist groups, local government units, national government agencies, non-governmental organizations, youth groups and other community stakeholders.

Murcia, which hosts the headquarters of the Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IB), was the first to cond uctthe condemnation rally on Monday.

Other police stations simultaneously conducted a similar activity on Tuesday.

In Moises Padilla, officials of the provincial police led by Col. Romeo Baleros and the Army’s 303IB headed by Brig. Gen. Benedict Arevalo attended the gathering held at the municipal gymnasium.

Mayor Magdaleno Peña was represented by Councilor Agustin Grande.

Some 575 participants witnessed the event on Tuesday highlighted by the message of Inolingan village chief Ma. Misil Hilario, wife of Councilor Jolomar Hilario, who was killed by communist rebels inside their home on March 31.

The widow denounced the inhumane act of the NPA as she shared that their family has been traumatized by the incident.

“They are cowards. They kill, without mercy, helpless victims,” she added.

Hilario appealed to the people of Moises Padilla not to support the CPP-NPA, which she considers as ruthless criminals.

She also asked the police and the Army to help their family seek justice for her husband.

The CPP-NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines. (PNA)
