Red Cross attends to 7K vacationers during Holy Week

MANILA -- A total of 7,185 who joined the traditional Holy Week activities and celebration from April 15 to 21 has sought medical treatment and services.

In its latest report as of 9 a.m. Sunday, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said seven persons suffered from "major cases" of fracture, loss of consciousness and seizure while 27 persons were brought to hospitals due to fainting, severe body pain, difficulty of breathing and head trauma.

In addition, a total of 413 cases experienced minor health issues like dizziness, jellyfish sting, muscle cramps, sprain, wound and vomiting.

Some 145 persons sought psychosocial support while 7,223 people had their blood pressure monitored.

The PRC said all the cases were provided medical treatment and services by their volunteers at the beaches and pool resorts, churches, bus terminals, parks, highways, and seaports. (PNA)
