COTABATO CITY -- Anti-narcotics operatives dismantled a drug den and arrested 12 drug suspects during a law enforcement operation here Thursday afternoon, an official said.

Juvenal Azurin, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) director, said a minor was also rescued during the 4 p.m. drug raid in Barangay Rosary Heights Mother.

Azurin said the operation -- backed by elements of the Cotabato City Police Office -- resulted in the arrest of Mokamad Gani Lagantao, the alleged drug den operator, and 11 others, including a government employee.

Seized during the sting operation were 12 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP374,000, the drug bust money, a .22-caliber revolver with ammunition, six motorcycles used by the drug den clients, shabu paraphernalia, and mobile phones used in illegal transactions.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects now detained at the PDEA-BARMM custodial facility in Pedro Colina Hill, this city.

The minor, on the other hand, was turned over to the city social welfare office. (PNA)
