SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government in Western Visayas (DILG-6) launched here on Tuesday the “Enhanced Operation Listo” manual to ensure zero casualty during a typhoon onslaught.

Anthony Ian G. Andeleza, Local Government Operations Officer of the DILG-6, said they have launched the manual in five provinces, including here at the Eagle’s Hotel in Antique’s San Jose de Buenavista.

“We will be launching the Enhanced Operation Listo manual in Capiz next,” said Andeleza, who discussed the new tools under “Operation Listo”.

He said that they are launching the manual throughout Western Visayas for it is very important for the local government units (LGUs) to know what to do prior, during and after the typhoon.

“In the Enhanced Operation Listo manual it is now clear what the LGUs would do,” Andeleza said.

He said the “Operation Listo” manual was originally crafted in 2015 with three components or checklist for the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), Philippine National Police, and the local chief executive but the “checklist have been consolidated so there will be one directive.”

He said the manual is an improved version because of the experiences of the member agencies on disaster preparedness for which the DILG is the lead agency.

Meanwhile, Andeleza said aside from the “Enhanced Operation Listo” manual that they will turn over to the LGUs, the DILG is also providing the needed training for the LGUs such as on how to formulate Climate Change Action Plan and Operational Readiness so that when there is a typhoon or disaster the LGU would be ready.
