Ateneo law graduate tops Bar exams

MANILA--The result of last November's bar examinations was released Friday by the Supreme Court (SC).

Bar committee chairman Senior Associate Justice Mariano C. del Castillo said there were 8,155 who finished all the eight subjects in the bar examinations, out of the 8,701.

Only 1,800 successfully hurdled the test while only 22.07 percent of the total examinees emerged with flying colors, with Ateneo's Sean James Borja topping the examinations.

Rounding the top 10 were Marcley Augustus B. Natu-el (University of San Carlos), Mark Lawrence C. Badayos (University of San Carlos), Daniel John A. Fordan (Ateneo de Manila University), Katrina Monica C. Gaw (Ateneo de Manila University), Nadaine F. Tongco (University of the Philippines), Patricia O. Sevilla (University of the Philippines), Kathrine T. Ting (Dela Salle University), Jebb Lynius Q. Cane and Alen Joel Pita (both of University of San Carlos).

Del Castillo said the highest grade awarded in this exam was 98 percent in Legal Ethics. The largest number of passers in Legal Ethics out of 8,155 examinees, 5,436 takers passed the subject or 66 percent.

The subject that had the least number of passers was Taxation with only 18.3837 percent or 1.532 examinees. (PNA)
