Mapua hands Perpetual Help 1st loss in Fr. Martin's Cup

MANILA -- Mapua inflicted the first loss of Perpetual Help in the Fr. Martin's Cup Summer League in blowout fashion, scoring a 91-53 win on Friday.

The Cardinals held the Altas scoreless in the first five minutes of the second quarter to spark the breakaway.

Laurenz Victoria scored 14 points, while Christian Bunag and Justin Serrano added 10 each for Mapua, which scored its third straight win in the preseason tournament.

Edgar Charcos and Ben Adamos each put up 10 markers for Perpetual Help.

Meanwhile, San Beda survived an upset bid from Treston and took a 78-75 victory.

The Red Lions leaned on key back-to-back triples from Ain Obenza to hold off the Golden Lions.

Obenza finished with 20 points, coming in the second half, for San Beda, which notched its second straight win.

Leo Esguerra fired 25 markers for Treston, which fell for the second straight time.

In the juniors games, Treston zapped St. Patrick, 88-67, while San Sebastian romped San Beda-B, 77-53. (PNA)
