MANILA -- Globe Telecom has restored its Internet services in the Visayas and Mindanao after these were interrupted on Saturday due to cuts in its fiber optic cables.

In its advisory, Globe said it has fixed the issue affecting mobile data and home Internet services in some areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

“To continue browsing, simply restart your mobile device or turn off your modem for 10 to 15 seconds then turn it on again,” the advisory read.

Globe said its customers in the Visayas and Mindanao were unable to use mobile data and Home broadband Internet services due to two fiber cuts including a submarine cable cut.

“A fiber cut was caused by an unknown vehicle that dragged the cable at a road crossing near San Juan Elementary School in Del Gallego south of Tagkawayan, Quezon and the submarine cable cut was caused by the magnitude 5.5 earthquake that jolted Occidental Mindoro,” Globe’s said in its earlier.

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on Saturday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). (PNA)
