BACOLOD CITY -- Police seized an estimated PHP1.2 million worth of shabu in a drug raid at a pension house here over the weekend.

Police arrested in a buy-bust operation Evonie Bacuray, 26, who sold PHP16,000 worth of shabu to an undercover agent during an operation at the Visitors Inn pension house on Locsin Street in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, shortly before midnight on Saturday.

At about 11:45 p.m., he was cornered by the team of Capt. Mark Angelo Junco of San Carlos City Police Station together with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Western Visayas.

Operatives seized from Bacuray five sachets of suspected shabu, including the buy-bust item, weighing about 100 grams.
The suspect was detained at the police station’s custodial facility.

In the past several months, huge volume of shabu have also been seized in the northern Negros city.

Last December, two drug personalities were arrested in a buy-bust that yielded PHP7.674 million of shabu in the mountainous area of Upper Mahayahay, Barangay Punao.

In August last year, about PHP72 million worth of shabu was recovered during an entrapment operation conducted by joint operatives of PDEA-Western Visayas and Central Visayas, and the San Carlos City Police in Barangay Palampas. (PNA)
