Ex-OPBF champ Diale loses by majority decision in China bout

DAVAO CITY – Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) champion Arlin “The Jackal” Diale of the Philippines lost by a majority decision to reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) International flyweight champion Wulan Tuohazi of China in their boxing bout on May 26 held in Fuzhou, China.

The 28-year-old Tuohazi improved his record to 12 wins with five knockouts. Tuohazi won the vacant WBA International flyweight title by a unanimous decision over Ryota Yamauchi of Japan on March 29.

Diale, on the other hand, suffered his 14th loss.

The 30-year-old Diale recently scored a majority decision over Cris Alfante to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title on July 7, 2018, in Pasay City.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Can Xu of China defended his WBA world featherweight title with a TKO over Shun Kubo of Japan in the 6th round. It was Xu’s 17th victory and the 3rd knockout against two losses.

Carlos Canizales of Venezuela retained his WBA world light flyweight title by a unified decision over Sho Kimura of Japan.

The 26-year-old Canizales improved his record to 22 wins and 17 knockouts with no loss and one draw. The bout was promoted by Oscar Dela Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Lui Gang of Max Power Promotions. (PNA)
