MANILA — Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Ricky Vargas announced on Monday major changes in some of its committees.

In a speech during the POC's general assembly, Vargas said former POC president Peping Cojuangco has been relieved from his current post as the chairman of the constitutional amendments committee.

"I will chair the said committee in concurrent capacity until I find a suitable replacement," said Vargas.

Vargas also announced that Muaythai Association of the Philippines head, Lucas Managuelod, will now lead the POC membership committee, replacing Philippine Squash Academy president Bob Bachmann.

Vargas also took out Monsour Del Rosario as chef de mission for this year's Southeast Asian Games as well as his deputy, Charlie Ho.

He appointed Congressman Bambol Tolentino, the POC chairman, to be the CDM for the 2020 Olympics, replacing Joey Romasanta.

"The individuals I mentioned have lost my trust and confidence," said Vargas, explaining the shakeup, which came six months before the start of the SEA Games that the Philippines is hosting late this year. (PNA)
