ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A fruit trader and a bar entertainer were arrested while some PHP72,500 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in the region, a police official said Tuesday.
Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Reynan Bernardo, 21, a fruit trader; and, Nof Paner Patangan, 22, a bar entertainer.
Galvez said Bernardo was caught in possession of some PHP2,500 worth of shabu when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Sinunuc.
Also recovered from Bernardo’s possession was the PHP400 marked money, she said.
On the other hand, police said some PHP70,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in two big-size and four small-size heat-sealed plastic sachets were seized when Patangan was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 4 a.m. in Purok Kalambuan, Barangay Sta. Filomena, Dipolog City.
Also seized from the possession of Patangan was the PHP500 marked money, a shoulder bag, and a cellular phone, police said.
Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is set to be filed against the two arrested suspects, police said. (PNA)
