COTABATO CITY -- After two weeks of surveillance operations, anti-narcotic operatives said they arrested on Friday two big-time drug peddlers and seized a kilo of suspected shabu with a market value of PHP6.8 million in Wao, Lanao del Sur.

Director Juvenal Azurin, of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), identified the arrested big-time drug pushers as Darangi Angatong alias Salaudin and Lendi Mangondacan, both residents of Wao.

Joint operatives of the PDEA-BARMM, Wao municipal police office, and the Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion conducted the buy-bust at 12:30 p.m. in Purok 7, Barangay Eastern, Wao.

“One of the PDEA agents acted as poseur-buyer and dealt with one of the two suspects for the sale of shabu,” Azurin told reporters here.

Mangondacan allegedly resisted but was quickly subdued and was slightly wounded. He was rushed to the Wao district hospital.

Seized from the duo were one large plastic bag that contained one kilo of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of PHP6.8 million, assorted identification cards and a KIA Picanto vehicle (ZFN-679) used by the suspects in illegal drug transactions.

Azurin said the suspects are now detained at the PDEA-BARMM custodial facility in this city and will face appropriate charges. (PNA)
