ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) is currently working on the drug-cleared status for three more barangays in this southern port city.

Lt. Col. Roberto Marcos, ZCPO deputy director for operations, said that Barangays Tictapul, Sibulao, and Pangapuyan have all registered the lowest number of drug surrenderers.

Marcos said records show that Tictapul has only 47 drug surrenderers, 23 of whom users and four pushers.

Sibulao recorded only 52 drug personalities to include 51 users and one pusher. Pangapuyan, on the other hand, registered zero drug personality.

Marcos said they are now completing the requirements for the declaration of the three barangays as drug-cleared by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council chaired by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

This city will already have eight cleared barangays once Tictapul Sibulao and Pangapuyan will be declared as drug-cleared villages.

Earlier this year, the CADAC upon the recommendation of the ZCPO had declared five drug-cleared barangays, namely Dulian, Capisan, Lumayang, Tigbalabag, and Lanzones. The city has 98 barangays. (PNA)
