Boxing’s ‘Smasher’, ‘Wonder Boy’ knock out foes

DAVAO CITY – Undefeated Jayson “Smasher” Mama and Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin stopped their opponents in the early rounds of their bouts on Sunday at the TV5 Studio in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The 22-year-old Mama TKO’d Ekkawit “Chor Nor” Songnui of Thailand in the third round in the flyweight division.

Mama scored his 13th win with 7th knockout while Songnui suffered his 7th loss against 49 wins and 1 draw.

The 20-year-old Martin, on the other hand, TKO’d Yuttichai Wannawong of Thailand in the 1st round only to make his 13th win and the 12th knockout in the bantamweight division.

Wannawong alias Rungpetch Saikaew Boxing Camp suffered his 9th loss. Meanwhile, flyweight Dave “Doberman” Apolinario also remained undefeated with a unanimous decision over Adrian Lerasan of Antipolo for his 11th victory and 6 knockouts.

Former interim World Boxing Association (WBA) world light flyweight champion Randy “Razor” Petalcorin TKO’d Worawatchai Boonjan of Thailand in the 3rd round.

In the other bouts, Rolando Servania won by unanimous decision over Pablito Canada; Kristian Hernandez TKO’d Jerwin Mejes; Robin Dincong beat Ernel Fontanilla by a split decision, and Mark Henry Escriber knocked out Lory Abelada. (PNA)
