MANILA — Eduard Folayang and Eddie Alvarez, two of the most well-known names in the mixed martial arts lightweight division, will square off in their highly-anticipated showdown at ONE: Dawn of Heroes on August 2.

Alvarez, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champ, and Folayang, a former two-time ONE lightweight winner, will collide in the co-main event of the fight card that will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Alvarez had a rough One debut as he lost to Timofey Nastyukhin in the quarterfinals of the ONE Lightweight Grand Prix.

Folayang, on the other hand, lost his ONE lightweight title to the same guy, whom he first took the title from, Shinya Aoki.

Meanwhile, another former UFC star, Demetrious Johnson, will take on Tatsumitsu Wada in the semifinals of the ONE Flyweight Grand Prix.

The winner of the bout will take on the winner of the other semifinal between Danny Kingad and Kairat Akhmetov, which will also take place at ONE: Dawn of Heroes.

Another grand prix semifinal will ensue as well as Nastyukhin takes on Honorio Banario.

Nastyukhin was originally slated to face Lowen Tynanes, but Tynanes got hurt while training, paving the way for ONE to call up Banario to step in.

Filipino-Australian Reece McLaren will also see action as he battles Yuya Wakamatsu.

The headliner will feature Jonathan Haggerty and Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE Muay Thai flyweight title. (PNA)
