MANILA -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Tuesday said it has revoked the accreditation of WellMed Dialysis Center and Laboratory Corporation (WellMed) following the fraudulent claims for dialysis services filed on behalf of its deceased patients.

In a statement, the PhilHealth reiterated that it has stopped paying WellMed's claims prior to this action.

"PhilHealth accreditation is a privilege granted to qualified health care providers for them to participate in the National Health Insurance Program, and can be withdrawn at the discretion of the Corporation after due evaluation of their capacity and integrity," the statement read.

The PhilHealth had renewed its accreditation to Wellmed on Jan. 1, 2019. Wellmed's accreditation expires on Dec. 31, 2019.

Meanwhile, the corporation advised its members and qualified beneficiaries availing of WellMed’s services "to transfer to other accredited facilities to ensure continuous availment of their PhilHealth benefits". (PNA)
