Global Makati notches 1st PFL win; Kaya Iloilo stays perfect

BIÑAN CITY — Global Makati got its first win in the Philippines Football League season after beating Air Force, 3-1, at the Biñan Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Global Makati made up for a 32nd minute own goal from James Dorego with a late second half comeback to steal the win.

Kennedy Uzoka launched a rocket goal in the 73rd minute to tie the match, while Marvin Bricenio scored the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute.

Man of the Match Matthew Custodio then delivered the dagger in the 90th minute.

The win moved Global Makati to fifth place in the league with the full three points, while Air Force stays tied at the bottom with Mendiola, a 3-6 loser over Kaya Iloilo at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila later Wednesday.

Despite finally conceding goals, Kaya Iloilo remained perfect in four matches with the rout of Mendiola in the high-scoring clash.

Aaron Altiche momentarily stunned Kaya Iloilo with a third minute goal to put Mendiola on the board first.

But Jordan Mintah equalized in the 11th minute, and Shirmar Felongco put Kaya Iloilo up front for good in the 22nd minute.

Eric Giganto added another goal for Kaya Iloilo in the 47th minute as the club opened the second half at 3-1.

He then canceled Ash Flores' 57th minute goal for Mendiola with a 60th minute goal to keep Kaya Iloilo's lead at two, 4-2.

Mintah then scored in the 85th minute to spark Kaya Iloilo's breakaway, and he completed a hat trick with an 89th minute goal, right after Alen Angeles struck one more time for Mendiola. (PNA)
