DAVAO CITY -- Bantamweight protégé Mike “Magic” Plania of General Santos City will be back in action as he fights in the United States on July 26 against a yet to be announced opponent.

The 22-year-old Plania (20W-L1-0D, 11KO) knocked out Nicong “The Destroyer” Calamba of Butuan City in their April 30 fight in General Santos City.

He also beat American Juan Antonio “The Wolf” Lopez by a unanimous decision on Jan. 13 in Los Angeles.

“My eyes are only focused on one goal and that is to add my name to the (list of) Filipino world champions,” said Plania.

He said the upcoming fight is another golden opportunity not to be missed.

“I am always grinding in the gym and will do everything to bring pride to my country and my team,” Plania said.

For Sanman chief executive officer Jim Claude Manangquil, “a win for Plania would mean he is ripe enough for a world title shot."

"He needs to win this one in order to get closer to becoming a world champion,” Manangquil said.

Manangquil believes in Plania’s potentials and added that he works so hard in the gym. (PNA)
