MATI CITY, Davao Oriental -- Governor Nelson Dayaghirang vowed to sustain the gains of the past years as he gets a fresh mandate to lead the province in the next three years.

During his oath-taking on Monday that also coincided with the 62nd founding anniversary of the province, Dayanghirang called on the newly elected officials to continue working where they can deliver, operate and keep the province growing.

“As we come together for the next three years as the elected officials of the province, we put aside everything that might hinder us from doing the best we can for our province,” he said.

Dayanghirang, together with the newly elected government officials, took their oath that was administered by Hon. Judge Emilio Dayanghirang III, executive judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) 11, Branch 6, in Lupon.

Dayanghirang vowed to continue implementing the programs and initiatives, which are already in place during his first term as governor of the province.

“We will focus on promoting an environment that will spur economic development over the next three years,” the governor added.

He cited various projects such as the improvement of the provincial tourism complex where an inland resort and an 800-person capacity convention center will be built, the revival of the Mati City airport, and the creation of the Project Development and Resource Generation Management Center that aims to fast-track the development and preparation of the project proposals in the province.

“There is still much to accomplish, and we must stay focused even as we pursue our goals and visions,” he said.

During his first term, Dayanghirang said he has put in place programs to spur economic development in the province -- one of which was the establishment of an economic zone. (PNA)
