GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Police arrested two suspected drug suspects in a buy-bust operation Monday afternoon here.

Maj. Tirso Pascual, chief of the city police's drug enforcement unit, identified the suspects as Alfie Magallanes, 38, resident of Susana Homes, Barangay Lagao and Brandon Escolin, 39, of Purok Panaghiusa, Barangay Dadiangas South.

Pascual said the suspects were nabbed past 4 p.m. at a portion of Laurel Street in Barangay Dadiangas North after selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500 to a police officer who posed as a buyer.

During the search, he said the two yielded two more sachets of suspected shabu and the PHP500 marked bill used in the entrapment.

Pascual said the suspects were included in their watch list and had evaded their previous operations.

"We closely followed their movements and finally got the chance to get them," he said.

The official said the illegal drugs peddled by the suspects appear to have come from local sources and that they are currently identifying the shabu suppliers and the other cohorts of the suspects.

Pascual said the two will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 or selling and possession of dangerous drugs, under Article II Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
