BACOLOD CITY -- A graduate of the Bago City College in Negros Occidental placed third in the June 2019 Criminologist Licensure Examination, based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Tuesday.

Rosanie Bulacja, who graduated magna cum laude, is the school’s first-ever Criminology student who landed in the top 10.

Garnering a score of 89.95 percent, she is the only passer from the Visayas included on the latest topnotchers’ list.

“It’s an unexpected blessing,” she told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

On Wednesday, Bulacja attended the inaugural session of the Bago City Council led by Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, where they lauded her feat as an outstanding graduate of the city government-run educational institution. She also met with Mayor Nicholas Yulo at the City Hall.

Bulacja hails from Barangay Zone 4 in neighboring Pulupandan town, where she finished high school as an honor student at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.

As a sophomore student, her mother died of an illness, and she thanked her father, who works as a municipal driver of Pulupandan, and her three siblings for their support.

Bulacja said her friends, classmates, and mentors, both in school and in the review center, were also supportive as well as her boyfriend, Gabriel, a graduating Criminology student, who stood by her while preparing for the examination.

Only 27 out of the 41 examinees from Bago City College passed the tests, and Bulacja encouraged her batchmates who did not make it, to never give up.

Bulacja said her top 10 achievement actually came as an advanced birthday gift as she turns 22 on July 10.

She admitted though that Criminology was not her first choice for a college degree as her dream was to enter the Philippine Military Academy.

Circumstances may not have paved the way for her to join the military, but this time she intends to pursue her plan to be a police officer and a teacher.

Bulacja said her plan is to teach in college and also join her review center as a mentor. At the same time, she will continue to follow her dream to join the Philippine National Police. (PNA)
