MANILA -- Team Philippines chef de mission, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William "Butch" Ramirez, has appointed Stephen Fernandez of taekwondo and Ada Milby of rugby as his deputies in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Milby and Fernandez will be working alongside PSC Commissioners Celia Kiram, Arnold Agustin, Charles Maxey, and Ramon Fernandez, all of whom were also tapped to assist Ramirez during the tournament which will be held in 44 venues divided into four clusters.

“Stephen will be the Senior DCDM,” Ramirez said in a statement on Thursday.

Ramirez said the four commissioners are "a logical choice since they have already started coordinating with the national sports associations".

"They (commissioners) are also part of the board which will approve requests so it is good for them to know the situation on the ground for a deeper understanding of our athletes’ needs,” Ramirez said.

Last month, the PSC received PHP842.5 million from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation for the renovation of the track and football field and indoor Ninoy Aquino Stadium, both inside the 85-year-old Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the Multi-Purpose Arena at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.
