DAVAO CITY -- A hand grenade exploded inside a residential compound owned by Fredelyn Aregoso Cuba in Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City on Tuesday evening.

Captain Anjanett Tirador, Tagum City Police Office spokesperson, said nobody was inside the house at the time of the incident.

“There were no reported casualties except damage of the sliding door glass and other parts outside the house,” Tirador said, adding the house was secured by a concrete fence and steel gate.

She said investigators are still verifying if the said act is linked to the investment firm named Project Limited Company headed by Freddie Aregoso, the father of Fredelyn Cuba.

The firm is said to be offering 500 percent monthly returns of the amount invested by the investors but has since stopped operation along with almost a dozen other investment firms in Tagum City.

“We will investigate if the incident is connected to the said firm,” the police official said.

Tirador said a post-blast investigation conducted by the Explosion and Ordinance Division (EOD) resulted in the recovery of pieces of evidence such as safety lever, fragments of Mk2 hand grenade body and fragments of a detonator. (PNA)
