GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Police arrested four "newly-identified" drug personalities in separate entrapment operations on Tuesday evening and Wednesday dawn in Koronadal City.

Lt. Col. Rey Egos, Koronadal City police chief, said the suspects were nabbed following a tip from an informant regarding the illegal drug activities in Barangays Zone III-Poblacion and Gen. Paulino Santos.

Egos said they conducted the first buy-bust operation around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday in Maranon Village, Barangay Zone III, which is close to a private university.

The operating team nabbed suspect Jolan Mabilangan Belmes alias “Jolan,” 32, after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500 to a police officer who posed as a buyer, he said.

"It's fortunate that we were able to get him since, according to reports, his clients included students and workers residing in the area," Egos said.

The police official said his team conducted another buy-bust around 1 a.m. Wednesday along Gandola Street, Purok Sariling Atin in Barangay Gen. Paulino Santos and arrested three more suspected pushers.

They were identified as Reggie Yato Gracia alias “Bukol,” 27; Barn Jardeliza Escovidal alias ‘Barn,” 28; and Roy Soberano Molleno alias “Roy,” 27.

He said their operatives managed to buy from the suspects a small sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500. Another medium-sized sachet of suspected shabu was recovered from one of the suspects along with the PHP500 marked bill used in the buy-bust, he added.

Egos said the four suspects will be charged for violating Sections 5 and 11, or selling and possession of dangerous drugs, under Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"We were able to arrest these suspects based on tips from the public. So we are encouraging everyone to be vigilant, report suspicious activities in their areas and rest assured that we will immediately act on them," he said. (PNA)
