Mighty Sports go 3-0 in Jones Cup with rout of Japan

MANILA – Mighty Sports cruised to its third straight win in the Jones Cup, blasting Japan, 94-59, at the Changhua County Gymnasium in Taiwan on Sunday.

On his birthday, Renaldo Balkman made 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and one steal for Mighty Sports, which pulled away late in the first quarter.

Eugene Phelps added 19 points on 6-of-10 field goals, six rebounds, two steals, and one block.

Next up for Mighty Sports is University of British Columbia on Monday. It earlier won its first two assignments against Iran and Jordan.

Flippin Koh and Haruta Ogawa each made 10 markers for Japan, which fell to 1-1 in the standings. (PNA)
