Davao Oriental radioman nabbed for gun possession

DAVAO CITY – A radio broadcaster in Mati City, Davao Oriental was arrested by authorities on Wednesday afternoon for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

In an interview Thursday morning, Maj. Bembo Aying, officer-in-charge Mati City Police station, identified the arrested suspect as Ezperanzo Nishiguchi, a radio commentator of Sunrise FM.

Aying said Nishiguchi was arrested through a search warrant in his residence in Barangay Central around 3 p.m.

“Someone tipped us that he owns a gun and upon our verification, we found out that he is not a registered firearm holder,” Aying added.

The search warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 32 in Lupon, Davao Oriental.

Aying said authorities recovered from Nishiguchi’s possession a .45-caliber pistol, and a magazine with seven bullets. (PNA)
