ASG member nabbed in Mandaluyong City

MANILA -- Authorities nabbed on Sunday a suspected member of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Mandaluyong City.

Eastern Police District (EPD) director, Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan identified on Monday the suspect as Imran Sala-In Mutahayin, 24, who is based in Basilan.

He was arrested during an operation conducted by police officers in Barangay Barangka Ibaba around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Prior to his arrest, Mutahayin was the subject of a manhunt conducted by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-District Special Operating Unit (DSOU) in Barangay Kalawaan, Pasig City but he escaped.

Mutahayin has a standing arrest warrant for murder issued by the Basilan Regional Trial Court in Isabela City.

The suspected ASG bandit is currently detained at the EPD police station for documentation and elicitation of his factual personal identity. (PNA)
