ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Authorities arrested two people and seized some PHP340,000 worth of suspected shabu in an anti-drug operation in the province of Tawi-Tawi, an official said Tuesday.

Lawyer Jacqueline de Guzman, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, identified the arrested suspects as Nur-

De Guzman said the Tayongs allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for PHP500 to an undercover agent.

She said the arresting team seized from their possession a total of 50 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP340,000, assorted illegal drug paraphernalia, the PHP500 marked money, and PHP400 cash in different denominations.

Cases for violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26, Section 11 and Section 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 are set to be filed against the suspects, she said.

The Tayongs were arrested by a team of PDEA agents, policemen, and soldiers, de Guzman said. (PNA)
