ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to deactivate the registration of 110,103 voters who failed to vote for two consecutive elections.

Lawyer Stephen Roy Cañete, first district election officer, told the Philippine News Agency that of the total, 68,213 are from his district while the remaining 41,890 are from the second district.

Cañete said the Election Registration Boards (ERB) for the first and second districts will convene on August 13 to confirm the deactivation of the 110,103 registered voters.

The list of voters’ subject for deactivation will be posted in the barangay halls, he said, adding those who wish to register again may do so by filling up documents at the local Comelec office.

Cañete said registration for new voters started August 1 and ends September 30, 2019. (PNA)
