BACOLOD CITY -- Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested seven persons and seized a total of PHP510,000 worth of suspected shabu in two separate operations in Negros Occidental in the past three days.
In Silay City, Jaime Gucio was arrested in a buy-bust at Barangay Bagtic around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Gucio, a high-value target, is a member of the Michael Divinagracia drug sub-group, a report of PDEA-Western Visayas said.
The suspect yielded about 30 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of PHP204,000.
He is facing charges for violation of Article II, Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In Bacolod City, six persons were arrested at Purok Sibucao, Barangay Banago in a search warrant operation around 6:45 p.m. last Saturday.
The suspects were identified as Jennifer Magbanua also known as “Inday Quiatchon”, Nerra Acibug, Franklin Belecina, Risty John Miravelence, Ludovico Sagal, and Nilo Boy Arcenio.
Operatives recovered 11 plastic sachets of shabu weighing about 45 grams and valued at PHP306,000.
The arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of Article II, Section 6 (maintenance of a drug den), Section 7 (visitors of a drug den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Section 12 (possession of paraphernalia for dangerous drugs), and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of RA 9165.
Both operations were done by agents of PDEA-Negros Occidental Special Enforcement Team and PDEA-Iloilo.
These follow the three recent operations of PDEA in the province, including the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of about PHP5.4 million worth of shabu last July 25 in Talisay City.
On July 23, seven persons were arrested and a drug den was dismantled in San Carlos City. The suspects yielded at least PHP136,000 worth of shabu.
On July 5, two suspects, who yielded about PHP340,000 worth of shabu, were arrested in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Mandalagan in this city. (PNA)
