DAVAO CITY -- Ronel "The Hawk" Sumalpong of Surigao del Sur will fight April Jay Abne of Cebu for the Ultimate Boxing Series (UBS) flyweight division title on August 25 at the Tv5 Studio in Novaliches, Quezon City.
The 22-year-old Sumalpong (7W-1L-1D, 5KO) stopped Ian Refuela of Cebu last July 8 at the Tv5 Studio.
He earlier beat Ruben Dadivas from this city by unanimous decision last May 23 in the quarterfinals.
Abne, on the other hand, beat Joseph Bayuhay of Zamboanga del Sur last July 8.
He started the campaign with a unanimous decision over Ronel dela Cruz of Sultan Kudarat last May 23.
The promoter is Gerry Penalosa of Gerrypens Promotions Inc. (PNA)
