KIDAPAWAN CITY -- To attract more investors and promote the local products of Arakan Valley Complex (AVC) and the municipality of Tulunan, the  North Cotabato provincial government is set to hold a 2-day AVC Investment Fair here on Sept. 19-20 this year.

North Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco said the investment fair, in partnership with the AVC- Project Management Office (AVC-PMO) and Action Against Hunger (ACF), will be held at the provincial capitol grounds in Barangay Amas, this city.

The AVC is a cluster of land area of at least 274,300 hectares located in the north-central part of North Cotabato comprising the five municipalities of Antipas, Arakan, Magpet, Matalam and President Roxas.

AVC-PMO administrator Kerwin Jade Mallorca said that the activity is meant to attract investors in the areas of agriculture, trade and commerce, basic social services, and utilities.

“The investment fair is part of the strategic development process of AVC-PMO that will result in the identification of priority development areas of AVC and Tulunan,” Mallorca told reporters here in an interview Tuesday.

Jules Benitez, manager of the ACF’s Rise Project, also supported the activity and said that their organization, through the European Union Delegation in the Philippines, also conducted community-based participatory planning in some 50 areas of AVC and Tulunan.

The investment fair would highlight different activities such as Investment Opportunities Pitching, “Pasundayag” (A Celebration of Cultural Heritage of Arakan Valley), AVC Complex Site Tour, “Museyo Kutawato” Tour, and the Governor’s Night.

Seeing the advantage of the project to the province, Catamco offered to host the event, saying, “this activity will attract more investors and will also help the farmers and business sector of Arakan Valley and Tulunan.” (PNA)
