COTABATO CITY -- A total of 452 residents here have received “Pangkabuhayan” Package from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), on Friday morning.

Director of DOLE 12 (Soccsksargen) Sisinio Cano and Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi led the package distribution to the beneficiaries during a program held at the Cotabato City Hall lobby.

The DOLE-12 allotted PHP9.6 million for the livelihood assistance aimed at improving the lives of indigents by providing them with a dignified source of income.

“The beneficiaries were also trained on baking, food processing, welding, vulcanizing, sewing, cosmetology, fruit shake vending, cooking, electronic service, food cart vending, cooking and many others,” Cano said.

Speaking to reporters, one of the beneficiaries, Constancio Pabahay was elated and humbled by the livelihood package received from the government.

“No words could explain the happiness I have in my heart now,” Pabahay said in the vernacular.

In her speech, Guiani-Sayadi reminded the beneficiaries that they should not sell their machines and other assistance provided them by the government.

Cano said the “pangkabuhayan” package in Cotabato City is one of the many packages for indigents across the region, also known as the Soccsksargen development hub.

The region is composed of the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal, and General Santos. (PNA)
