Renowned Korean pianist performs in Manila

MANILA -- Noted Korean pianist Kim Kyung-ah on Friday held a special concert at the residence of Korean Ambassador Han Dong-man in Makati as part of the 2019 Manila International Piano Masterclasses Festival.

Miss Kim, one of South Korea’s accomplished international pianists, played classical music for almost one hour non-stop.

She was given a standing ovation for her excellent performance.

She played flawlessly the Chorale Preludes of Hohann Bach (1685-1750 and Preludes, Op. 28 of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) without reading the musical notes.

The young Korean pianist was “praised for her being a part of the wave of new pianists with an ability to act the part of a star.”

Miss Kim has her own style of playing the piano with passion that the crowd was swayed by it.

As an accomplished pianist, Miss Kim has won numerous competitions award, not only in her native country, but also in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Among the awards she won were the USA Beethoven, the Leos Janacek International Competition, Sorantin International Competition, St. Charles International Competition, to name a few.

She had performed with well-known conductors and orchestra such as John Williams, James Orent, Petre Atrichter, and has been a soloist, such as the Boston Pops Orchestra, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, NEC Philharmonic Orchestra, BU Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Kyunggi Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.

Despite being busy performing concerts in various parts of the world, Miss Kim still finds time teaching at Seoul National University in South Korea. (PNA)
