COTABATO CITY -- Policemen are in pursuit of motorcycle riding-in-tandem gunmen who shot and injured an executive of a big construction firm here Monday.
Capt. Rustom Pastolero, city police station 2 chief, identified the victim as Apollo Gatchalian Algas, 49, a general contractor and vice president of the city-based Compact II construction firm.
Pastolero said the victim was on board his white pickup truck on the way to work around 9 a.m. when tailed and fired upon by the attackers along De Mazenod Street, Barangay Rosary Heights 4.
“The gunmen sped off following the incident,” he said.
The victim, despite sustaining a gunshot wound in the neck, managed to drive his vehicle to a local hospital.
Police probers found at the crime scene eight empty shells from a .45-caliber pistol.
Pastolero said the incident could be work-related.
On Sunday night, gunmen aboard a tricycle also shot and wounded two teenagers at the corner of San Isidro and San Gregorio streets in Barangay Rosary Heights 13.
The victims, both aged 16, were rushed by concerned neighbors and relatives to the hospital.
The motive of the shooting remains unknown. (PNA)
