BACOLOD CITY -- A rookie policeman is facing various cases after he was arrested for illegal drugs in this city over the weekend.

A police report identified the suspect as Patrolman Bryn Jephtha Gimotea, 32, who was caught in the act by his training supervisor, using marijuana in a pot session on Saturday afternoon.

Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, public information officer of the Bacolod City Police Office, said on Tuesday that Gimotea’s drug test turned out positive.

“That is another aggravating circumstance against (him),” Pico said in an interview.

He added that Gimotea has already undergone inquest for a criminal case, and will also face administrative and civil cases.

The suspect, a resident of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, was deployed for a field training program at the Philippine National Police Regional Training School here in Barangay Mansilingan.

He was arrested by Senior Master Sgt. Emmanuel Alonsogay of Police Station 1 at the St. Joseph Courtyard on Lacson Street at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Gimotea yielded an improvised cigarette rolling paper with marijuana and a plastic pouch of dried marijuana leaves. (PNA)
