Firearms dealer nabbed, guns seized in Canlaon City

DUMAGUETE CITY – Police arrested an alleged firearms dealer during an entrapment operation in Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City in Negros Oriental on Wednesday.

A report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) said at around 3:40 p.m., the suspect, Jose Necesito Cabales Jr., 60, a resident of Barangay Pula in Canlaon City, was arrested by police and intelligence operatives.

The suspect was arrested after he allegedly sold some firearms to an undercover cop in a sting operation.

Seized from the suspect were two improvised 12-gauge shotguns, a magazine, three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition and a marked PHP500 bill used in the buy-bust.

The suspect failed to produce valid and legal documents for the said firearms and ammunition.

He is now under the custody of the Canlaon Police Station as charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” are being prepared against him. (PNA)
