CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga -- Investments in this Freeport are increasing, indicating investor confidence on the back of the country's sound macroeconomic fundamentals and growth prospects.

The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) said there are 54 new locators here with an additional workforce of 5,295 in the first seven months of the year.

As a result, Clark now has a total of 1,092 locators from 1,038 companies at the end of 2018.

The number of workers here also grew to a total of 128,268 as of the first semester of 2019 from 122,973 employees last year.

Evangeline Tejada, CDC vice president for Business Enhancement and Business Development Group (BDBEG), attributed the increase in the number of locators and workers in Clark to the sound economic policy of the Duterte administration since 2016.

The industrial firms in this Freeport employ the biggest number of workers with 46,809 or 36.49 percent of the total number of workers.

The information communication technology (ICT) industry followed with 22, 827 employees or 17.80 percent; estate developers with 21,806; service industry with 16,317; and tourism with 10,241 employees.

Other employment contributors here are commercial, institutional, aviation-related, logistics, utility and agro-industrial industries.

“A significant increase in employment generation is also expected in the coming years once the New Clark City becomes fully-operational,” Tejada said during the Metro Clark Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday. (PNA)
