GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Police Corporal Redentor Aracena Betita was conferred on Monday the “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” (the Philippine National Police wounded personnel medal) for his courageous action and exemplary performance while on duty.

A member of the city police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Betita was injured on his lower right knee as the DEU team shot it out with a drug dealer and a notorious gang leader during a buy-bust in the gang’s lair in Barangay San Francisco in this city.

Mayor Antonio Ferrer, Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis Ferrer IV, along with Cavite Police Provincial director, Col. William Segun, and city acting chief of police, Lt. Col. Marlo Solero, visited the wounded cop at the General Trias Doctors Hospital where they conferred the medal on Betita.

"Kami po sa pamahalaaang Lungsod ng GenTri ay malugod naming binabati bilang isang magiting na member ng kapulisan ng ating lungsod upang higit na mapangalagaan ang katahimikan sa ating lugar. Mabuhay ka Corporal Betita (We in the GenTri city government is pleased to confer the award to a brave member of the city police force who is dedicated to ensure peace in our locality. Long live Corporal Betita)," the mayor said.

Betita also received incentives from the PNP through Marlo Magpantay of the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Inc. (PSMBFI).

The mayor and the congressman also hailed the General Trias City police for its achievement as “Top Performing City Police Station on “Tokhang” Activities from August 20 to 27 during the Oversight Committee Meeting on anti-illegal drugs and anti-gambling at the Mayo's Hall in Camp Gen.
