MANILA – Newly appointed Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, Col. Ronnie Montejo, vowed to intensify internal cleansing among the ranks and recognized the importance of human resources in every organization.

“Misfits and illegal behavior in the organization have no place in our ranks. We shall not involve in any illegal activities that would conflict our duties as a public servant. We should perform our duties well and carry out our 100 percent best to serve the public without fear or favor. I will make sure that your good deeds will be rewarded and those who will break the chain and violates the law will be punished,” Montejo said during the turnover ceremony at the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal Tuesday.

Montejo replaced Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., who was designated as Caraga Police Regional Office (PRO) director.

Montejo proposed a new "functional crime prevention" strategy to topple crimes.

Police should know "why" crimes are happening instead of the question how, Montejo said.

Under a new strategy, Montejo wants to take advantage of technology and actively involve communities in crime prevention.

For Montejo, his experience will help him serve well as the new QCPD chief.

He also lauded the accomplishments of his predecessor.

Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., asahan nyo po na ipagpapatuloy ko po ang lahat ng magandang nasimulan at nagawa nyo po dito sa QCPD (As your new district director, you can expect that I will do my best to serve you and to maintain peace and order in our city. To my predecessor, Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel, I assure you that I will sustain all the good policies you have introduced here at QCPD),” he stressed.

Montejo, former Deputy District Director for Administration (DDDA) of the Northern Police District (NPD), belongs to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Tagapagbuklod Class of 1989.

He was a former Provincial Director of Laguna Police Provincial Office in 2016. He was also once assigned in QCPD as Chief District Special Weapons and Tactics (DSWAT) in 2013; Station Commander of Cubao Police Station PS-7 also in 2013; Station Commander of Batasan Police Station (PS-6) in 2011; Station Commander of Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) in 2007; and Chief, District Operations and Plans Division (DOPD) in 2008.

Likewise, he was also a former Station Commander of Sogod and Catmon, Cebu City, Deputy and Executive Officer of Cebu City Police Office in 1993. (PNA)
