ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested five people in an alleged drug den on Thursday here.

Lawyer Jacqueline De Guzman, PDEA-Region 9 director, said Saturday the drug den was dismantled following a buy-bust operation around 3 p.m. Thursday in Purok Sagrada, Barangay Camino Nuevo.

De Guzman identified the arrested suspects as Cristy Salazar, the alleged drug den maintainer; Myrna Salazar, the alleged co-maintainer; Jarold Disor, Kevin Delos Reyes, and Joshua Rañin, both alleged visitors of the drug den when it was raided.

The suspects were arrested after one of them sold to an undercover agent a heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu in exchange for PHP500, the PDEA official said.

Seized from the drug den were some 10 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP68,000; PHP29,840 cash in different denominations believed to be proceeds money, and PHP500 marked money.

De Guzman said the suspects were temporarily detained at the PDEA-9 headquarters here while charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 15, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, have been filed against them. (PNA)
